Want to learn smokes and flashes without wasting matchmaking games? Set up your own practice server in a minute.
Before you start
- Turn on the console: Settings > Game > Enable Developer Console, then open it with the ~ key.
- Load a map offline, e.g.
game_mode 0; game_type 0; map de_mirage
- These commands need
sv_cheats 1 and only work on a server you host, not in matchmaking.

What the key commands do
sv_infinite_ammo 1: unlimited ammo and grenades (2 = infinite ammo but you still reload)ammo_grenade_limit_total 5: carry every grenade type at oncesv_grenade_trajectory_prac_pipreview 1: a small picture-in-picture shows where your grenade will landsv_grenade_trajectory_prac_trailtime 8: keeps the grenade trail visible longersv_showimpacts 1: shows where your bullets hit, great for spray controlmp_buy_anywhere 1: buy menu anywhere on the mapnoclip: fly through walls to check where a nade landed
Two binds worth adding
bind n sv_rethrow_last_grenade: throws your last grenade again from the same spot, so you can stand where it lands and watch it arrivebind v noclip: quick fly toggle
