PUBG is a heavy game to run, and your settings decide a lot of fights before you even land. Here's a solid starting point for more FPS and better visibility, based on the ProSettings guide (68 pro players analysed) and the official PUBG option notes.
Display
- Display Mode: Full Screen. It gives the most FPS.
- Resolution: native, with Render/Screen Scale at 100. If it's too low, everything looks blurry. PUBG's official Korean and Chinese help pages recommend 90 or higher.
- FPP Camera FOV: 103. The default is 90, and 103 helps you see enemies at the edge of the screen.
- In-game FPS cap: Unlimited (or set a cap if your FPS jumps around a lot).
- Smoothed Framerate, V-Sync and Motion Blur: Off. Smoothed Framerate and V-Sync add input lag, and motion blur only makes it harder to see.
Graphics quality (Custom)
- Anti-Aliasing: Medium. Higher can look blurry, and lower looks jagged.
- Post-Processing: Low. It costs a lot of FPS, and higher values can hide enemies in dark spots.
- Shadows: Very Low. Player shadows are still drawn.
- Textures: Medium. This makes it easier to pick out gear that blends in with the ground, like a tan Level 2 helmet on Miramar. Go higher if your PC can handle it.
- Effects: Very Low. Foliage: Very Low, so there's less grass for enemies to hide in.
- View Distance: ProSettings suggests Low because it doesn't change when players or vehicles appear. PUBG's own description says higher makes distant objects clearer, so raise it if you have spare FPS.
- Sharpen: personal preference, with little FPS cost.
DLSS/FSR tip
Update 43.1 added Resolution Upscaling (Disable, NVIDIA DLSS or AMD FSR) under Settings → Graphics → Advanced. It only appears if Anti-Aliasing is Medium, High or Ultra. If you can't find it, check your AA setting first.
How to test properly
- Change one setting at a time and test in the same spot in a real match. The lobby always renders at high quality, so its FPS doesn't tell you much.
- Write down your graphics values. The settings sharing code from update 42.3 copies controls, key binds, audio and gameplay settings, but not graphics.
