Valve released a small but useful Counter-Strike 2 update on 28 October, and it is mostly about the silent reload.
Quick reminder: what is silent reload?
Since the Rush Hour update in September, you can reload without making noise by holding the reload key. The catch is that a silent reload takes quite a bit longer than a normal one. Until now you had to keep the key held the whole time.
What changed
- New option: Silent Reload Mode – Hold or Toggle. With Toggle on, once the silent reload has started you can let go of the reload key and it continues on its own.
- Changed your mind? Tap the reload key again to cancel the silent reload and switch back to a fast reload. Handy when an enemy suddenly peeks.
- Sound fix: in some cases the first sound of a reload could be heard even when you asked for a silent reload. That leak is now fixed, so a silent reload really is silent.
Other fixes
- Liquid could render black on AMD graphics cards – fixed.
- Some sound and UI bugs when rewinding during demo playback – fixed.
Our tip: if you lurk or hold angles a lot, try Toggle mode. You keep both hands free for movement and aim while the reload finishes quietly, and you can still cancel it in an emergency. Look for the Silent Reload Mode option in your settings after the update.
