KRAFTON has published a new Dev Letter about PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS anti-cheat on PlayStation and Xbox, looking back at 2026 and explaining what comes next. If you play PUBG on console, this is the short version.
Console bans are up 44.6%
The total number of console bans rose 44.6% compared with last year. According to coverage of the letter, the comparison is full-year 2025 against January to September 2026, and actions against keyboard-and-mouse users alone rose 212.7%.
What PUBG cracked down on in 2026
- Keyboard and mouse on console (unauthorized input devices). Since 29 June players confirmed to use them can get penalties up to a permanent ban, and penalties were also applied retroactively to earlier use.
- Stat (KDA) abuse. The detection system, previously PC-only, came to console last December. In October it was improved to catch players who land far apart or swap between accounts to hide boosting.
- Lag switches. Deliberately causing network lag to win fights is a permanent-ban offence. Bans started in September.
- Single-fire assist tools. Tools that fire faster than a human physically can were identified, with bans starting in October. KRAFTON asks anyone using them to stop now.
What's next
The anti-cheat team says players are already trying to dodge detection, for example by making keyboard input mimic a controller's analog stick or by using key-mapping features. The next steps are:
- More advanced input analysis to spot abnormal input patterns.
- Better detection of unauthorized assist devices, including converters (input adapters).
